Birth control can do more

Some birth control options may do more than prevent pregnancy, including helping with acne, period cramps, PMDD symptoms, and cycle control.

Some hormonal birth control options may help reduce acne by addressing hormone-related breakouts.

Some options can make periods lighter or less frequent, which may help reduce painful cramping.

Certain hormonal birth control options may help manage PMDD symptoms for some people.

Some birth control options can be used to delay or skip periods when clinically appropriate.

Choose what is right for you.

Have questions? We have answers.

Choosing birth control can come with questions. We’re here with clear, straightforward answers about prescriptions, options, refills, insurance, and how birth control works.

Birth control FAQs

How do I get a birth control prescription online?

You fill out a secure health questionnaire about your medical history. A licensed Canadian provider reviews it and, if appropriate, prescribes the option that fits you. Your prescription is delivered discreetly to your door, with refills shipped every 3 months.

Do I need insurance to get birth control?

No. Raven doesn't require insurance. We don't bill insurance or provincial drug plans directly. Your drug receipt can be submitted to your private insurer for reimbursement. If you're eligible for your province's drug plan and your medication would have been covered, you may also be able to apply to the plan for reimbursement. Coverage decisions are made by your insurer or drug plan, not by us, and we can't guarantee any amount will be reimbursed.

Can I refill my current birth control?

Yes. Your birth control is automatically refilled and shipped every 3 months, so you have what you need for the entire year without having to remember to reorder. You also get ongoing access to your provider throughout the year, so you can ask questions or adjust your plan whenever you need to.

Which birth control is right for me?

That depends on your health history and how you want it to fit your life. During your online visit, you'll answer questions about your medical history. You select the birth control that's right for you, and your provider reviews your choice to make sure it's safe and appropriate.

What types of birth control does Raven offer?

Currently, Raven offers the pill, patch, or ring as birth control options.

How do birth control pills work?

Birth control pills work by using synthetic hormones to thicken cervical mucus and stop sperm from penetrating the uterus, changing the lining of the uterus so a fertilized egg can't implant, and in most cases, preventing ovulation. Talk to your healthcare practitioner to find the best option for you.

Online Assessment

What happens after I submit my health form?

A licensed Canadian provider reviews your form within 24 hours. You’ll get updates by email and in your Raven portal with next steps or questions from your provider.
