Calculate your BMI

Enter your height and weight to estimate your BMI and see where it falls within standard Canadian adult ranges. BMI is one screening measure and doesn’t capture the full picture of your health, including factors such as body composition, pregnancy, hormones, and life stage.

This calculator is for adults 18+ and general information only. It uses standard Canadian adult BMI categories, which are not sex-specific, and is not intended for use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. BMI is a screening measure, not a diagnosis, and does not directly measure body fat or determine eligibility for treatment. A licensed Canadian healthcare provider can interpret your result in the context of your health history and other factors.

Have questions? We have answers.

BMI can be useful, but it doesn’t tell the whole story. We’ve answered some common questions to help you understand your result, what the ranges mean, and where BMI fits into your overall health.

BMI 101

What is a healthy BMI for women?

For most adults, including women, a BMI between 18.5 and 24.9 is considered within the healthy range. BMI is only one part of the picture, though, and factors like body composition, health history and lifestyle also matter.

Is BMI different for women?

No. The BMI calculation and standard adult ranges are the same for women and men. What BMI doesn’t account for are individual differences such as muscle mass, body composition, hormones and fat distribution.

Does BMI account for hormones or menopause?

No. BMI only uses your height and weight. It doesn’t take into account hormonal changes, menopause, medications, muscle mass or other factors that can affect your weight and overall health.

Does a high BMI mean I need weight-loss treatment?

Not necessarily. BMI alone can’t tell you whether treatment is right for you. A healthcare provider may also consider your health history, symptoms, medications, goals and other factors before discussing possible options.

Online Assessment

What happens after I submit my health form?

A licensed Canadian provider reviews your form within 24 hours. You’ll get updates by email and in your Raven portal with next steps or questions from your provider.

Is it legal to prescribe treatment online?

Yes. Telehealth is legal in Canada, and is changing healthcare for the better. Raven enables physicians to practice medicine and take care of patients remotely. Every doctor you interact with is licensed to prescribe medication and treat patients in your province and complies with all governing medical laws in Canada.

How quickly will a doctor review my questionnaire?

After your online questionnaire, a doctor will complete their initial review of your medical history within 24 hours.

If you’ve been waiting longer than this, please email [email protected] and we’ll take care of it.

What provinces are you available in?

We are currently available in Ontario, BC, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, and PEI.

Is my information safe?

Yes. At Raven, we take your data security very seriously. Your medical records are encrypted and secure, meeting all Canadian PHIPA requirements, to protect your information at all times.

Please read our Privacy Policy for more details.

Ongoing Support

Can I return my prescription?

Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns of prescription products for reuse or resale. However, if you feel we made an error in the filling of your prescription, please contact us at [email protected].

I missed a message from my doctor. Where can I find it?

All provider messages appear in your Raven portal. We also send email reminders, but the portal is the quickest place to check.

What should I do if I am experiencing a side effect?

If you believe you have a medical emergency, please contact 911 immediately.

If you believe you are experiencing a side effect and it is not an emergency, please stop taking the medication and message your prescribing physician. They will be able to recommend an appropriate course of action.

Alternatively, feel free to email [email protected] and we will notify the physician on your behalf.

It’s an emergency, what do I do?

In an emergency, please call 911 immediately.

Can I cancel my order at any time?

Yes. You can pause or cancel upcoming orders. We suggest messaging your provider first since most concerns can be resolved with small adjustments.
